Closing the chapter on 2024, Alberta stands as a shining example of resilience, growth, and innovation. This year, our province has experienced a remarkable economic resurgence, driven by several key sectors that continue to thrive and expand.

I am deeply proud of my work as Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health. This year, we introduced a comprehensive new pay model for physicians, alongside expanding primary care access through Nurse Practitioners. These initiatives are part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that all Albertans have access to quality medical care in the communities where they live.

West Yellowhead, and particularly Jasper, recently endured the most devastating wildfire in its history. I am deeply humbled and honored by Premier Smith’s trust in appointing me to directly represent the voices of our community to the province’s Emergency Management Cabinet Committee and the Jasper Rebuild Cabinet Committee. Jasper is a resilient and united community, and I am confident it will overcome this challenge and emerge stronger than ever.

2024 was a year full of big announcements, from oil and gas to technology, agriculture, and renewable energy, Alberta has proven that its diverse economy can weather challenges and embrace opportunities. Oil and gas reached a new production record in July, while new investments in green energy and technology startups have begun to shape a promising future.

Alberta’s employment numbers also reached record highs, signalling not just recovery, but long-term sustainable growth. With businesses expanding, consumer confidence rising, and exports flourishing, the province is well-positioned for even more success in the coming year.

The strength of Alberta’s economy in 2024 reflects the determination and hard work of its people. The province’s entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well, and our diverse industries are leading the way in innovation and job creation. From the bustling urban hubs to the growing rural communities, it’s clear that Alberta is on an exciting path forward.

As we look to the future, let’s celebrate the achievements of this extraordinary year, while continuing to invest in the talent, resources, and infrastructure that will ensure Alberta remains one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.

Here's to a bright and prosperous 2025, where Alberta’s economic vitality will only grow stronger.
