ARENDS, Raymond Merrill James - December 2, 1984 – January 6, 2024
Jamie Arends passed away on January 6, 2024, at the age of 39. Jamie was born on December 2, 1984, in Jasper, AB, to Susan (née Henderson) and Raymond Arends. Jamie was raised to be a small-town mountain boy, who appreciated the simpler things in life. He spent his youth with a close group of friends, where they listened to Weird Al's music and played video games. Jamie eloped and married his best friend Samantha (née Cox) on February 19, 2020, after being together for 10 years. After eloping, he and his wife moved to Drumheller, AB, in hopes of a quieter life together. They enjoyed travelling the Caribbean by cruise ships and having date nights in the city. Jamie graduated with honors from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology program "Butchery and Charcuterie". Jamie had a sincere passion for the meat-cutting industry, which he demonstrated on a daily basis, with his co-workers and customers.
You were guaranteed to be greeted by Jamie's contagious smile and his sense of humor. When he wasn't cutting meat to order, he could always be found walking his two small dogs Chewy and Vada around the Midland area, playing PC games, with his friend Foster, and building and painting Warhammer figures. Jamie beat cancer twice and he was a living example of strength, courage, patience and kindness. Jamie is survived by his loving wife, Samantha (née Cox); his tenacious sister, Diana Arends; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jamie is predeceased by his parents, Susan (née Henderson) and Raymond, as well as his brother-in-law, Scott Campbell. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 19, 2024, at the Midland Community Hall between 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Jamie’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.
