UPDATE: Maligne Lake Road has reopened, according to an update from the Municipality of Jasper.
An ongoing police incident has closed Maligne Lake Road just past Old Lodge Road in Jasper National Park, according to Parks Canada.
The federal agency announced this closure on social media on Friday morning (Jan. 3).
Due to an ongoing police incident, Maligne Road is currently closed. Please avoid the area at this time.

The Municipality of Jasper stated on its Facebook page that Parks Canada crews are on-site blocking access to Maligne Lake Road, and RCMP are asking the public to stay away from the area at this time. Vehicles can still access Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Lake Annette.
