Carstar Okotoks Bisons forward Sam Callahan scored a hat trick in the 7-4 win over the Mountainview Colts on Oct. 4 and leads the Heritage Junior Hockey League with seven goals in six games.

The Carstar Okotoks Bisons devoured their first bite at inter-divisional action.

Okotoks (5-1-0) brought its winning steak to four games and moved into a first-place tie for top spot in the Heritage Junior Hockey League South Division with a pair of convincing triumphs in its first northern road trip of the 2024-25 campaign.

On Friday, Sam Callahan scored a hat trick with fellow first-year Bisons forwards Zephyr Laplante and Ty Russell notching their first tallies with the team in a 7-4 win over the Mountainview Colts in Didsbury.

Adam Kirkpatrick and Jakob Semeniuk added the other markers for the visitors with Dylan Walker stopping 21 shots for his fourth win.

Nicholas Smith got the start the following night and earned the 19-save shutout in the 5-0 triumph over the Ponoka Stampeders for his first win as a Bison.

Kirkpatrick paced the Bisons with two goals with Russell, Laplante and blueliner Caden Scott also lighting the lamp.

Callahan, a 19-year-old forward from High River, leads the HJHL with seven goals in six games.

Following the weekend results, there are no remaining undefeated teams in the loop and Okotoks has moved into a tie with Medicine Hat for first in the South.

The Bisons are home on Friday to take on the third-place Agra Risk Wheatland Kings on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. The team then hops on the bus for a trip to Red Deer on Oct. 12.
