The Jasper Seniors Society hosted an upscale Valentine's Day Tea at Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge, with the help of funding from the Canadian Red Cross.

The celebrations included on-ice sessions, a banquet on Friday [Jan. 24] and a curling table set up outside as part of the Street Party, which concluded Jasper in January.

Jasper in January wrapped up with its annual Street Party on Saturday [Jan. 25], which features fire performers, musical entertainment, s'mores and more. The evening was capped off by fireworks above Centennial Park.

"It's a really good process for everybody or anyone that's grieving – even if you're not artistic – to pick up a brush or a pencil or find whatever medium moves you and create when you're feeling sad."

"Whatever your response to the artwork might be, it's all good, it's all allowed, it's all embraced, but we can't heal without feeling, and whatever we feel is part of our healing process."

The Mayor’s Special Award is the highest possible recognition that can be bestowed by the Municipality of Jasper. Each year, council receives nominations and reviews all submissions, and the mayor has the honour of presenting them.

"Some of the Facts" is a collection of fictionalized stories based loosely on the people who lived and worked in Jasper National Park in its early days.

Trevor Soll, owner and race director at MultiSports Canada, reported that the Rebuild Jasper Run raised over $21,000 as of Monday (Dec. 3), but online donations would continue to be accepted.

"This year, there will be an expanded Donate & Go Christmas Decoration section, which will include fully decorated trees with some available to rent over the holiday season."

"We are glad to report that the Jasper Seniors Society is alive and well and planning things for seniors in Jasper, and we are also trying to reach the seniors which have been displaced since the wildfire."
