At our meeting this week Fred Kreiner, treasurer, reported that we have now close to 150 members in our society, and we thank Fred for being at the Rotary Club Seniors luncheon for taking new and current memberships.
There were close to 200 seniors at the luncheon, and we would like to give thanks to the Jasper Rotary Club and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for making this annual contribution to seniors which is looked forward to and enjoyed by all.
We enjoyed a presentation by Kacie Whyte, the new Seniors worker obtained through funding, to work with individuals in need of help with respect to health and financial situations plus advocacy for anyone in need without resources. To a small extent, Kacie will be able to help with the organization of certain programs for seniors. Currently, Kacie is building a network between health, medical, home care and pharmaceutical professionals for individuals who need this type of support.
Kacie can be reached by email at [email protected] or by calling 780-931-3364.

Go at your own pace and please wear clean, non-marking indoor shoes. We wish to thank the Municipality for making this space available for the safety and health of all residents and especially seniors.
The Snow Angels program is supported by community volunteers and assists those experiencing barriers to shovelling their sidewalks during the winter months. Anyone over 55 years of age can join the society for a nominal $10 annual fee and receive newsletters and invitations to various planned outings and functions throughout the year. The objectives of the society, in part, are to promote the interests of seniors as well as to coordinate the services available to seniors in the community. The society manages and maintains a Seniors’ Lounge in the Activity Centre where our monthly meetings take place on the second Monday of each month.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, Jan. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the Seniors’ Lounge at the Jasper Activity Centre.
All seniors are welcome to attend and see what we are about. You can then decide if membership will be a benefit to you. If you have any ideas or wish to voice any concerns, please feel free to contact Janis Marks at 780-852-3973 or email [email protected]. Let us know how we can make everyday living better for all seniors in Jasper.
