COLD LAKE - Night flying training will be taking place over the City of Cold Lake starting Jan. 22 and going until Feb. 2, according to information from 4 Wing Cold Lake.
According to the public notice, "4 Wing is always mindful of the Lakeland community and this type of training is not intended to disrupt your valuable peace and quiet."
Night flying is an important training requirement for both aircrew and ground crew.
"The ability to conduct night missions is vital to our operational capability," reads the notice from the Canadian Forces airbase.
According to information from the federal government, 4 Wing Cold Lake is the busiest fighter base in Canada. The base provides "general purpose, multi-role, combat capable forces in support of domestic and international roles of Canada's Air Force."
"4 Wing Cold Lake is, without question, the home of the fighter pilot. It not only hosts Canada's world-class tactical fighter force training, but also deploys and supports fighter aircraft at a moments notice to fulfill the domestic and international roles of Canada's Air Force," states the information from the Government of Canada.
