'Allow Piglet to stay'

Dear Editor, I have met Lynda Knight’s Piglet. There is nothing offensive about her. She undoubtedly makes little to no impact on the daily functioning of life here in Jasper National Park. Certainly she impacts the park far less than a cat or a dog.

Dear Editor,

I have met Lynda Knight’s Piglet. There is nothing offensive about her. She undoubtedly makes little to no impact on the daily functioning of life here in Jasper National Park. Certainly she impacts the park far less than a cat or a dog. Cats kill billions of birds and mammals a year around the world. One can only shudder and guess at their impact here in Jasper. Dogs create a ruckus with their barking. They’ve been known to chase and kill wildlife, too. Geesh, we have even built a dog park for them!

Not everyone picks up after their pet. Ultimately it comes down to the owner and what they allow their animal to get away with. Lynda Knight is a responsible citizen within our community. In fact most of us should look to her as THE example to follow when we want to live in harmony with our neighbours, community and the ecosystem around us.

I hope that common sense will prevail in the final conclusion of this saga. We should follow the path of Hinton and deem pot-bellied pigs to be pets. Please allow Piglet to stay in our community.
