We are glad to report that the Jasper Seniors Society is alive and well and planning things for seniors in Jasper, and we are also trying to reach the seniors which have been displaced since the wildfire.
There are a number of events you may enjoy which we would like to bring your attention.
We are very glad that the library is alive and well and catering to all the community once again – remember, membership is free to all. Check out their events in November.
Seniors' Curling will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 19 and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
There is a drop-in fee of $10, or you can register for the season for $150.
Please be aware that Service Canada confirms there is currently a scam being targeted at seniors, so please do not respond in any way to any texts you may receive from “Service Canada.”
Winter Gear for Jasper is a free giveaway for Jasper residents being held at the Jasper Municipal Library on Nov. 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the basement. This is open to all and especially those who have lost housing. Donations of warm winter jackets are welcome.
The Jasper Yellowhead Museum & Archives is offering Comfort & Joy during their display of a Festival of Trees Christmas Wonderland, which will open from Friday, Nov. 22 to coincide with the Moonlight Madness event, through to Sunday, Dec. 22. This year there will be an expanded Donate & Go Christmas Decoration section which will include fully decorated trees with some available to rent over the holiday season. The museum is open from Thursdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you wish to donate any Christmas items for their Donate & Go section, please drop off at the museum. They hope to see everyone enjoy this display and wish to give back to the community who has supported them for many years.
The museum is also holding Coffee Hours on Wednesday, Nov, 20 at 10:30 a.m. with the topic as the first ascent of Mount Alberta and again on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 10:30 a.m. with the topic being Jasper’s Wildfire History. Come for coffee and treats. All are welcome.
The popular Local Christmas Craft Fair will be held at the museum on Saturday, Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a Seniors’ early entry to the Fair from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and then open to the public at 11 a.m. Check out the offerings from our local artisans.
