THOMAS, Ceridwen Rees - March 24, 1937 to September 10, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ceridwen (Ceri) Rees Thomas, a beloved wife and mother, who left us on September 10, 2023, in Jasper, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 86.

Ceri was born on March 24, 1937, in Tyddyn Sachau, Four Crosses, Caernarvonshire, Wales. Her life's journey would span across continents, touching the hearts of many. She was the daughter of the late Owen John Thomas from Pwllheli, and Ellen Catherine Thomas (nee Rees) from Hen Bandy, Four Crosses, Caernarvonshire. Ceri was also preceded in death by her cherished sisters, Ella Rees Burrows and Iona Rees Parry.

Prior to having her own family, Ceri went into nursing, a calling she pursued with compassion and grace. She brought comfort and solace to countless patients throughout her short career. On November 23, 1957, she married Eilir Meirion Thomas, in a union that would span over six decades. Eilir hailed from Bala, Wales.  In 1967, Ceri and Eilir left the United Kingdom for Canada, initially settling in Valleyview and subsequently living in Oyen, Edmonton and finally Jasper, Alberta. Together they built a life filled with adventures, love, laughter, and enduring memories.

Ceri was known for her frank chats, having a sharp sense of humour, and her love of reading. She found solace in the breathtaking landscapes of Jasper, where she and Eilir made their home in 1978.

As we say goodbye to Ceri, we remember the legacy of kindness, love, and dedication she leaves behind. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Ceri's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ceri is survived by her devoted husband, Eilir, and their 6 children, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion.

Ceri’s last wish was for the family to hold a private memorial. May she rest in peace surrounded by the beauty of the mountains she loved.
