Lesleigh Campbell | Special to the Fitzhugh
The Jasper PeeWee Bears hosted the C.R. Knights this past Saturday evening and to say that this game was lopsided would be an understatement.
Callum Campbell was quick to score the first goal, 26 seconds into the game, assisted by Jackson Irwin.
A few minutes later, Campbell sniped another one.
The Knights fought back and managed to get some shots on the Bears' goaltender Brady Campbell, who simply shut the door.
With two minutes remaining in the first, Casey Peel assisted Callum Campbell on getting a Natural Hat Trick to finish off the period.
The second period got off to a good start for the Bears, with Joshua Doyle scoring off a pass from Drew Kovacs.
Not long after that, a Knight was on a breakaway when interference was called by the referee, resulting in a penalty shot for the Knights.
The crowd sat on the edge of their seats as the knight glided towards the net, looking confident.
He shot the puck and the crowd stood up and roared, as Brady Campbell had made an amazing save, keeping the score 4 to 0 at the halfway mark of this game.
Not long after that, Kovacs scored a goal of his own and just when it was starting to look like a shutout wasn't out of the question, the Knights knocked in a rebound, finally getting themselves on to the board.
Before this period ended though, Jackson Irwin scored one more goal, assisted by Tyler Pearson and Bode Hofhuis.
Heading into the third period, it was plain to see that the Knights looked defeated under that armour.
Still, they gave it all they had for the remainder of the game.
Callum Campbell was able to bury another puck with Jackson Irwin and Seth Johannesson getting the assists.
And then, with one minute left in the game, Campbell rounded out the score: 8 to 1.
The PeeWee Bears were glad to put that game in the win column and are hoping to do the same next Saturday here in Jasper at 5 p.m. against Mayerthorpe.
Hope to see you at the Rink!
