ABC's The Bachelorette may no longer be filmed in Jasper due to new federal travel restrictions, according to reports.
In late January, the television show was rumoured to be the reason why the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge had been privately booked for nine weeks beginning the end of February.
Reality Steve, a television writer, has since tweeted on Feb. 2 that the show had scrapped plans to film its 17th season there.
"Resorts in the US now being looked at, but they are definitely still looking at colder weather locations," he wrote.
Danika Beaton, public relations manager at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, said in an email they still had a private booking between Feb. 23 and April 29.
Alberta Health spokesperson Tom McMillan said the ministry had provided a preliminary letter of support to the Public Health Agency of Canada.
He added federal approval was required before any official approvals would be provided from the province.
"Our priority is protecting the public health," McMillan said in an email. "Like many other provinces, we are working to allow some film productions to continue provided they can follow extensive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
Judith Gadbois-St-Cyr, spokesperson with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), stated in an email the agency has made the production company aware of all requirements and obligations should it seek entry to film in Canada.
Foreign nationals seeking entry into Canada from the United States must be asymptomatic, travel for a non-discretionary purpose and be able to comply with quarantine requirements.
The CBSA does not pre-approve travel, with border services officers making their assessment at the port of entry.
