The Alberta government says it has heard back from Canada’s chief actuary on its bid to leave the Canada Pension Plan -- but says the actuary has not provided an estimate on how much Alberta should get.

The utility rates, which will eventually double, are meant to cover increasing water and sewer costs, due mainly to aging infrastructure, and fund a new water treatment plant.

"We do have an absence of information, but there isn't an uncertainty about the services that need to be delivered from January to June."
