"Don’t forget to visit the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum’s Festival of Trees Christmas Wonderland, which continues until Dec. 22."

The Jasper Seniors Society had its December meeting recently, and we wanted to let you know the latest arising from that. Our President, Janis Marks, has sent a thank-you card to the Rotary Club of Jasper for organizing a most wonderful Seniors’ Luncheon at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge recently. There were approximately 200 seniors present, and all came from near and far to attend this event and make connections with friends they had not seen for a while.

Also, our treasurer, Fred Kreiner, was there to take new memberships, which are free this year, and Fred reported we now have 200 memberships in the society. Good news indeed!

The society offered to share the Seniors’ Lounge space earlier this fall, and so to that end, we will be purchasing a Smart TV and looking into the capability of organizations holding meetings via Zoom. The lounge space is perfect for a group of up to 12 people but is dependant on the time and date requested as there are many activities which carry on during the week there. We will be drafting up an information sheet and contract to cover the requirements for this space, but if you know of a non-profit or volunteer group that needs space from time to time, you can get in touch with us by email at [email protected].

Don’t forget to visit the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum’s Festival of Trees Christmas Wonderland, which continues until Dec. 22. The elves have been busy putting on a delightful display with trees, lights and decorations plus the ever-popular Donate and Go area, which offers Christmas decorations to purchase.

The Christmas Light Tour for Seniors will be starting from the Seniors’ Lounge at the Jasper Activity Centre on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. The tour will take in the lights around town and transportation will be by the Alpine Traveller Bus. The lounge will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for Christmas Cheer and conversation. Please feel free to drop in.

Just a reminder to please choose the Jasper Seniors Society as the donation recipient at TGP when shopping. We are thankful that we receive a cheque for these proceeds on a regular basis.

Our next Seniors’ Society meeting will be on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at the Seniors’ Lounge. Please feel welcome to attend and find out what your executive is doing for you.

We wish to extend our best wishes to all of you for a season full of comfort, joy and hope for a better New Year for our Jasper community.
