Richard Ireland will be Jasper's mayor for another four years as no one has emerged to oppose him.
Ireland is the only mayor the town, which was created in 2001, has ever had. Prior to that, he was chair of what was called the Jasper town committee. Dating back to 1989, Ireland, a local defense lawyer, is now staring down his tenth term at the helm of local government here.
A full list of candidates for the remaining six seats on Jasper town council will be released on Sept. 19 according to an official.
