It’s not every day someone marks their centennial birthday.
Long-time resident Della Senz did just that on May 25, with well-wishers marking the occasion by decorating her lawn and hosting a tea.
Senz had raised six children in Jasper and has lived in the same house for 75 years.
Her house remains located amid Jasper’s business district because she refused to sell it to developers.
She was recently acknowledged with a massive mural featuring her portrait on a two-storey wall of the Masonic Lodge.
Alex Kwong created the mural for the UpLift! Jasper Mural Festival last year.
UpLift! acknowledged Senz’s unique milestone in a social media post.
“Dear Della: thank you for being in our lives for the past year. In that 1 year you’ve brought us much beauty, joy, wisdom, and wit. We can only imagine the impact you’ve had on the world over the past 100,” the post stated.
“May you feel all the positivity you’ve created in the world coming back to you in spades on this special day.”
