On Jan. 12, 2024, Jasper RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services and Edson RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, executed a search warrant at a Jasper residence.
The six-month-long investigation, assisted by RCMP Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, focused on the distribution of illicit street drugs in the Jasper community.
As a result of the search warrant, multiple items were seized, including:
- Suspected cocaine;
- Suspected methamphetamines;
- Suspected fentanyl;
- 2 shotguns;
- 3 rifles;
- 2 handguns;
- 2 replica handguns; and
- 1 conducted energy weapon;
Two Jasper residents are currently facing multiple charges, which are pending crown approval.
An additional release is anticipated once charges are approved and laid.
“These inherently addictive and toxic substances pose significant public safety concerns,” said Sgt. Rick Bidaisee, Jasper RCMP Detachment Commander.
“Coupled with the use of weapons in their distribution, these substances greatly increase public safety concerns. As the investigation proceeds, Jasper RCMP will continue to focus on these types of criminal activity. This is part of our mandate to provide a safe community.”
