Elk calving closures are in effect in Jasper National Park until further notice. Areas between the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Old Fort Point and between trails 9 and 12 along the Icefields Parkway are affected.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
May 11, 2018 until further notice

ACTIVITIES PROHIBITED:
Pursuant to section Pursuant to section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following area is hereby closed by order of the Superintendent.

WHERE:
“Fort to 5 Trail” (unofficial trail) from Old Fort Point south to Highway 93. Includes area from the Athabasca River east towards Trail 9c/9. (See accompanying map).

WHY:
Wildlife activity in this area cannot be disturbed by human presence.

NOTE:
It is an offence under the Canada National Parks Act to enter a prohibited area. Violators may be charged.
