Those displaced by devastating wildfires in Jasper have a chance to take in the community spirit of soccer this weekend.
Cavalry FC announced via press release this week it is offering complimentary tickets to the Aug. 10 match (2 p.m. at Spruce Meadows’ ATCO Field) versus the Halifax Wanderers to wildfire evacuees from Jasper.
“In doing so, Cavalry hopes to unite those impacted by the fires with our supporters, players, and staff, and provide a sense of community to those currently facing devastating and uncertain times,” the Cavalry release stated.
Cavalry FC enters the contest in a strong run of form fresh off two consecutive road victories in the Canadian Premier League.
Last week, Ali Musse marked his return to the lineup from injury with two goals as a substitute as the Cavs edged the top of the table Atletico Ottawa by a 2-1 count.
Musse, last year’s CPL Players’ Player of the Year, was named the CPL Player of the Week.
Cavalry FC (5-9-3) sits fourth in the CPL standings, five points back of the league leaders.
