Alberta premier Danielle Smith is thanking Hollywood actor Bryan Cranston, most known for his roles on Breaking Bad, Your Honour and Malcolm in the Middle, for sharing his time in Jasper this summer before a wildfire razed parts of the town.

Cranston was spending his 35th wedding anniversary with his wife, Robin, in Jasper.

According to his post, Cranston and his wife travelled from Vancouver to Jasper via the Rocky Mountaineer and stayed at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

Cranston noted he stayed mostly unrecognized for the trip and that he often gets asked, “Has anyone ever told you that you look exactly like Bryan Cranston?” to which he replies, “Yes. You know, I’ve heard that a lot.”

They took a tour on the turquoise Maligne Lake, which Cranston described as having “stunning views”.

He also described trying a “very tasty and tender” bison steak at the Jasper Park Lodge and seeing a family of grizzly bears.

His next stop was Lake Louise.

Cranston also clarified that his visit was before the ongoing wildfires.

“When the area recovers, they will be in great need to get up and running again and welcome tourists back to this glorious part of the world,” he wrote. “It’s worth the trip.”

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith acknowledged Cranston’s visit in a post on X and thanked the actor for visiting Jasper.

“Thank you so much for visiting Jasper, Alberta and sharing your memories,” she wrote.

“We also appreciate you inviting the world to getaway to Jasper as soon as our beautiful town is back on its feet.”

Jasper National Park remains closed to the public.
