The Jasper Art Gallery is managed by the Jasper Artists Guild which was founded in 2001 when a small group of local artists agreed that the mountain town of Jasper, Alberta needed an organization to promote and exhibit visual fine arts.
In the early days, works were shown on the walls of vacant commercial spaces, restaurants and at the Jasper Museum. By 2003, the Jasper Heritage Firehall was transformed into the popular Brushfire Gallery where artists exhibited their works for nine consecutive years.
In 2016, the Jasper Artists Guild opened the Jasper Art Gallery in the Library and Cultural Centre located at 500 Robson Street. The two-story modern gallery is bathed in natural light and features a beautiful river rock wall, polished concrete floors and a state-of-the-art lighting and hanging system.
Today, the Jasper Art Gallery is a must-see attraction when visiting Jasper. Countless art lovers and visitors from around the world have enjoyed the solo and group exhibitions featuring a wide range of exciting visual arts including oils and acrylics, fibre arts, mixed media, sculptures, and photography created by local and regional artists.
