Tick Tock – no need to remind you the season is upon us and like you, JPCC is actively engaged in several of our portfolios.

Here is a rundown and perhaps even some inspiration to engage (and new members are always welcome).

JPCC is YOUR voice at the table with all levels of government and provides you with networking opportunities to talk about what matters to you, your business, and our community. The mechanics, economics and spirit of Jasper is often communicated in casual venues over a cold beverage. A pleasure for all who attend our monthly, NETMA meetings.

Current and ongoing activities related to advocacy include but are not limited to:

  • Transportation facility, transparency and clear communication associated to financial to construct and maintain the facility.
  • Parks proposed amendments that will set guidelines for artists creating murals in our community.
  • Parks proposed amendment to access of trails to guide visitors and for operators to continue to offer their unique experiences. This relates to photographers, horse, and flora/fauna experience tours
  • Labour and Housing issues continue and remain a top priority for our Executive and Board.
  • A request has been put to Municipal Council regarding shifting operation dates for patio seating. This is not a request to break away from the 180 day approved operations for patios, a shift only is requested.
  • Our website is currently in ‘refresh’ mode and standby for a phone call as we begin to repopulate the members only page as well as the member directory. It pays to join the chamber!
  • The next and important general meeting of the membership is April 17 at 11:30 a.m. with special guests Fire Chief Matt Conte and Director of Protective and Legislative services to present information on Fire Smart and answer your questions. Our host is the Royal Canadian Legion.
  • Women Mean Business but anyone can attend is scheduled for April 19 at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Please visit our Eventbrite listing to reserve your spot for the always sold-out event. Our Facebook and X accounts will give you a sneak peek into speakers, menu and of course an opportunity to network and shop with our mini marketeers prior to and after the official program.
  • Join us for NETMA on April 17 where we will see the very best of NETMA is all about at Papa George’s and hosted by PRIDE! 5 – 7 p.m. free nibbles with the bar open for you to enjoy at your own cost.
  • Watch your Things You NEED to KNOW edition in your email inbox – always keeping you update with information and news you can use. Important general meeting and of course the Annual General Meeting are on the radar. Watch for the State of the Municipality presented by Mayor Richard Ireland and the AGM to be sure you’re in the loop on the year in review, budget 2024/25 and of course the election of officers for 2024/25. The Eventbrite link will be posted in the newsletters.

We’re here for you always and in always,

Until next month and in anticipation of your active participation and a collaborative season, we’ll “see” you soon!

Pattie Pavlov is the executive director of the Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce.
