LAKELAND - A youth has been arrested following reports of armed robberies that involved victims being pepper sprayed in Bonnyville and Lloydminster.
On Jan. 29, Bonnyville RCMP responded to a robbery where a victim met with the suspect to sell an item. When the suspect approached the seller, they sprayed them with a substance believed to be pepper spray, then fled with the item.
A few days later on Feb. 2, Lloydminster responded to a similar report of a robbery.
Later that same day, Lloydminster RCMP responded to another report of a robbery.
"In the second incident, the victim had attempted to purchase an item from the suspect, who then sprayed the victims with a substance, that is believed to be pepper spray," according to RCMP.

The youth was also charged with offences in connection to the Lloydminster incidents.
Charges include:
- Fail to comply with release order x5
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x2
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm x2
- Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Robbery to steal firearm
- Possession of a break in instrument
- Robbery x2
The youth was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 11, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.
