Woman arrested in Airdrie with murder suspect to be released from custody

A women arrested in Airdrie alongside a Toronto man wanted for multiple homicides has been granted bail.

Alysha Chand, 25, of Burnaby, B.C., appeared before provincial court in Airdrie on Jan. 30 to answer for one count of possession of stolen property obtained by crime over $5,000 and counterfeit money.

An agent, David Giese, appeared on behalf of Chand’s lawyer, Rami Katrib, and urged the court to proceed with bail set at $3,500, with a few conditions attached. This request was granted by the court.

The first condition being Chand must report to her probation officer in person in Calgary and thereafter by phone call.

She must reside with her parents and any changes to her address must be reported to her probation officer.

Chand must maintain no contact with 23-year-old Toronto man accused of murder, whose name is currently under publication ban.

Wanted on nationwide warrants for outstanding two counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder; the man was a passenger in the same vehicle Chand was driving when they were arrested in Airdrie on Jan. 27

The man is scheduled to appear in Airdrie court on Jan. 30.

Once the $3,500 has been paid, Chand will be released, and her agent asked her to reach out to her family as they will be able to pick her up.

The vehicle was pulled over for speeding and illegal window tint during a routine enforcement patrol on Edmonton Trail NE in Airdrie.

At a press conference on Jan. 29, at Airdrie's local RCMP detachment, Cst. Jennifer Weedmark announced the arrest of both Chand and a 23-year-old man.
