MAYERTHORPE – RCMP have charged one of the suspects from a Dangerous Person Alert from an alleged armed robbery in Mayerthorpe earlier this week and issued an arrest warrant for the other suspect.
At 11:12 a.m. Friday (Sept. 20) the RCMP released an update on the alert earlier this week.
The arrested male suspect surrendered himself to the RCMP with family, according to the media update.
“The investigation remains open; however, it has been determined that the offences committed were targeted,” stated the update from RCMP.
“Mayerthorpe RCMP would like to re-assure the members of the community that there is no imminent risk to the community.”
RCMP have charged Whitecourt resident Dakota Patterson, 28, with kidnapping with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, theft of a truck, assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, flight from a peace officer, failure to comply with a firearms prohibition, and failure to comply with a probation order. Dakota Patterson was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.
A warrant of arrest has been issued for a 30-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, Santiago Patterson, who has been charged with kidnapping with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, theft of a truck, assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats against a person, and failure to comply with a firearms prohibition.

RCMP issued a Dangerous Person Alert Sept. 17 at 10:20 a.m. in relation to two men sought an armed robbery in the Mayerthorpe area. They sent an update that day after 1 pm saying an exhaustive search had been completed in the area and that they believe the suspects were no longer in the area.
RCMP cancelled the alert on Sept. 18, reporting that a suspect was in custody and that the second suspect was no longer considered an imminent threat to the public.
