Advance voting in Alberta up 26 per cent from last election

Over 800,000 ballots were cast at advance polls in Alberta from April 18 to 21.

Over 800,000 voters across Alberta's 37 electoral districts took part in advance voting from April 18 to 21, according to Elections Canada.

Advance polls in Alberta saw an estimated turnout of 815,131 for the 45th Canadian federal election.

In the 2021 election, 646,090 ballots were cast at advance polls, marking an increase of approximately 26 per cent. 

The increase is in line with nationwide polling numbers: according to Elections Canada's preliminary estimates, 7,280,975 electors voted at advance polls in this election, up approximately 24 per cent from the 5,852,391 valid votes cast at advance polls for the previous federal election.

Voter turnout data by electoral district is expected to be released by Elections Canada tomorrow (April 24).

Advance polls were open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from April 18 to 21. 

The federal election takes place on April 28.
