In less than a month’s time some of the best cyclists in the world will descend on Jasper to compete in the first stage of the Tour of Alberta on Sept. 1.

Organizers recently confirmed the race will begin in front of the Library and Cultural Centre before cyclists head out of town along Hazel Avenue and make their way along the Icefields Parkway south on Highway 93A to Athabasca Falls. From there cyclists will turn north on Highway 93 where the lap will repeat two more times. After the three-lap circuit, the race will head up Marmot Road and finish at Marmot Basin.

Jasper National Park’s website and social media accounts as well as signage in the park will be used to inform visitors about the road closures leading up to the event. Notifications will also be posted on Alberta 511 prior to and during the event.

For more information visit the race’s website at www.tourofalberta.ca.
