Reid William Van Delft, and Nicole Wilcox have been charged with 20 counts of possessing a forged credit card, and will reappear in Jasper Provincial Court next January.

Currently, Wilcox is out on bail and Van Delft is in custody in Grande Cache. He appeared in Jasper court via CCTV on Dec. 10. However, he requested to come to the Jasper court room for his next hearing.

Van Delft has another 16 charges which include possession of counterfeit money, stolen property and a break-in instrument. He’s also accused of impersonation with intent to gain advantage for himself, two counts of possession of illegal substances, and one count of trafficking substances.

Wilcox also has another 15 charges including possessing and using counterfeit money.

Frederick G. Carter was fined $200 for careless storage of a firearm during the Dec. 10 sitting of Jasper Provincial Court.

Carter had left his gun and ammunition lying in his vehicle in front of a residence in Jasper.

After a joint submission of a $500 fine per firearm, Judge Don Norheim asked if there was a specific law in Jasper that he had broken by leaving his firearm and ammunition around.

“Just because his gun was visible doesn’t call for a big fine,” he said.

Crown Prosecutor Erwin Schulz said the law was designed to make it more difficult for people to be opportunistic and make it “harder” for people to poach.

Despite the Judge’s questions, he did note that Carter was lax with his firearm and gave him the reduced fine.

Carter was previously fined $375 for placing a dead whitetailed deer into his truck after he found it on Highway 16.

Shawn Cody Curtis was given an extra 30 days in jail for driving a vehicle without insurance.

Curtis was already serving a 180 day sentence in Peace River for impaired driving.

Judge Don Norheim told the charged that he could not serve the days concurrently.

“You’ve been entirely reckless in what you were doing and not in the same boat as someone who forgot to pay their insurance,” he said.

Curtis pleaded with the Judge that he was trying to change his ways and was eager to see his pregnant wife.
