In support of Pride weekend

I would like to write that no matter what people’s personal opinions are regarding Pride Weekend, I think that this is a wonderful opportunity for both the community and our guests. This event helps to show Jasper as an inclusive, caring and compassionate community and will also help to encourage an as yet untapped tourism market. After having talked to one of the organizers I would like to commend the courage and initiative that is being displayed by hosting this weekend. Once again this shows Jasper as both a progressive and outward looking community that I am proud to be a part of. Regardless of what my personal opinion is on the matter, I would like to extend both my welcome and support to this event.

In defence of Tiger makeup

I was surfing the Fitzhugh website, looking for the girl’s Olympic write-up and I stumbled upon a ridiculous letter...

Who’s the idiot who wrote about a person wearing a Tiger Woods costume being a racist?

If I get dressed as Hitler for Halloween, am I a Nazi?

If I get dressed as a Maple Leaf player, am I a loser? (Well. Ok !)

You get my drift.

The idiot owes the Tiger Woods fan a BIG apology.

Get real people. Is that the kind of people I would be visiting if I visit your town.

Not good for tourism.

Olympic Women’s hockey was a treat

What a thrill to watch the Canadian Women’s Olympic Hockey Team perform in our own arena! It was so exciting to see so many people come out and enjoy the show.

The people responsible for bringing the ladies team to Jasper did a wonderful job.
