Jasper Pride and Ski Festival featuring over 40 events

The Canadian Rockies’ only gay ski week is returning this year to Jasper with over 40 events from April 12 to 21.

New to the festival this year is the Jasper Pride & Ski Festival App.

“We are looking forward to releasing the details of the new festival app that will allow you to access all the latest details on event schedules, exclusive deals, Fork & Spoon Promotions – Jasper Pride’s Food Fest, Interactive maps and a new way for Sponsors to reach the festival audience,” said Paul Gabrielson, co-chair of the Jasper Pride Festival Society, in an email.

Event highlights include:

  • Proud Peaks at Marmot Basin – Various dates/All festival long - featuring live music, family activities, Onesie Day and S’mores, along with the annual Ski Parade with the rainbow flag
  • ᓵᑭᐦᐃᑐᐃᐧᐣ Sâkihitowin – April 13 – will welcome the Edmonton 2 Spirit Society to share knowledge and experience of 2 Spirit people through a panel discussion and performance.
  • Family Pride Party – April 12 – A celebration of family supporting inclusivity and understanding. Featuring magician Sheldon Casavant and Jasper’s own queen Art Official
  • Jasper Pride Party: STUDIO 24 – April 20 – featuring Melinda Verga who recently featured in Canada’s Drag Race Season 4 and a star-studded cast of many. DJ Teacup will take be bringing the disco hits.

In an email, organizers said they were excited to see continued snowfall in Jasper and were optimistic that the sporadic weather will keep the runs topped up through April.

“Activations on the ski hill will be a great addition to both visitors and locals riding during Jasper Pride,” Gabrielson said.

“Even if you are not skiing, everyone will be able to enjoy the live music in the Caribou Chalet. With programming and events all over Jasper, there will be no shortage of adventure to be had."

Over the years, organizers have seen a growing interest in the festival with many international visitors engaging and a loyal following regionally.

The festival attributes its 15 years of success and inclusivity to the people and charm of Jasper.
