Three arrested after property stolen from Jasper home while residents sleeping

The suspects had entered the back of the residence at night, while the residents were sleeping, and stole multiple items, including vehicle keys and the associated vehicle.

Police arrested three suspects in possession of stolen property following a break-in at a Jasper residence.

On April 26, Jasper RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a residence in Jasper.

The suspects had entered the back of the residence at night, while the residents were sleeping, and stole multiple items, including vehicle keys and the associated vehicle.

Later that day, Parkland RCMP located the stolen vehicle with three women within as well as two shotguns, two BB guns, ammunition, and a small amount of methamphetamine and cocaine.

All three suspects were charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose and other firearm-related offences.

The suspects were later brought before a justice of the peace.

Twyla Sara Dawn Bird, 37, of Duffield was remanded into custody, to appear at court in Stony Plain on May 1.

Kayla Ann Marie Bird, 40, of Myrnam and Alicia Reba Bull, 36, of Duffield were released on conditions, to appear at court in Stony Plain on May 15.

“This is a great opportunity to remind the public that your Alberta RCMP will keep working together to solve crimes within the province,” said Jasper RCMP Detachment Commander Sgt Rick Bidaisee in a statement.

“Furthermore, I would like to remind the Jasper community that Jasper is a popular area for out-of-town travel, and it is important to secure your residence, garages and vehicles. Alberta RCMP has videos online pertaining to crime prevention through environmental design that can help those who would like more information on the subject.”

Police say the matter remains under investigation.
